Hi! I'm the unfiltered tech

I dove into the veterinary field back in 2018 and haven't looked back. Becoming a Veterinary Technician hasn't been easy and like all things it has come with it's challenges, but like all challenges also comes growth. Not only have I noticed growth within the field but also within myself. I have more patience, compassion, communication, understanding, and have found my voice.
Florida is now my home, I moved here with my boyfriend and now fiancé. Last year we adopted our first fur baby in April when he was 6 months old. If you have a fur baby you will know what I mean when I say I now have purpose and my heart has become so full since he has joined our family.
Even though my life is pretty much just me working, I still have a life outside of that. I absolutely love photography, mostly landscape photography but also wild-life. I moved to Florida so obviously I love the beach, kayaking, spending time with family, most importantly I love to relax, regroup, and be lazy a lot of the time. I have to give myself that break to be able to come back mentally each and every week.

Educate
Have you ever sat in an exam room, technician taking a history and giving you information, then the doctor comes in and gives you even more in depth information with some words that go right over your head. You leave not 100% knowing what just happened or what was told to you because it was too much at once? You’re not the only one and that’s what I hope I'm able to help with. When I have a client who has a new puppy, with no experience of having a dog and they sit there asking questions and truly listening to what I have to say it makes me happy and gives me hope.
All I want is for you to leave here but also to come back. Come back to keep learning. I want you to fully understand why your vet recommends certain things, why we do what we do and understand that we aren't doing this for our health, we are doing it for your pets. We are their voice and all we can do is advocate for them, the rest is in your hands.
My voice
You learn to find your voice. You learn to stand up for yourself. There are a lot of times that no one even looks at you while you speak, cut you off before you can finish your sentence, yell at you to get what they want, talk down to you cause you are not the doctor. People forget we are human, have a job to do, we have rules, and we are just as knowledgeable as the doctors are.
Personal stories
If only the walls could talk at a vet hospital, which I'm going to try to make come true. Interesting cases, client interactions, co workers shenanigan's.
